Publisher Policies and Standards

The International Journal of Computational Intelligence (IJCI), published by Flux Academic, is committed to maintaining integrity, transparency, accountability, and responsible conduct throughout the scholarly publishing process. These standards apply to authors, editors, reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher.

Publication Ethics

IJCI expects all participants in the publication process to uphold principles of academic integrity, research honesty, editorial independence, confidentiality, fairness, and accountability. The journal takes reasonable steps to protect the integrity of the published scholarly record.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted work is original, accurately reported, ethically conducted, and appropriately documented. Submission of a manuscript indicates that the authors have approved the submitted version and that the work is not simultaneously under consideration elsewhere.

Authors must properly acknowledge the contributions and sources of others and obtain permission where copyrighted material is reproduced. Research data, methods, and results should not be fabricated, falsified, or deliberately misrepresented.

Plagiarism and Redundant Publication

Manuscripts must contain original scholarly contributions. Plagiarism, substantial unattributed textual or conceptual overlap, duplicate publication, and inappropriate reuse of previously published material are considered publication-ethics concerns.

IJCI may use appropriate similarity or plagiarism-detection procedures during editorial assessment. Where substantial concerns are identified, the journal may request clarification or take further action in accordance with the circumstances of the case.

Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should accurately reflect substantial scholarly contributions to the research or manuscript. Guest, honorary, and gift authorship are not acceptable, and individuals who meet appropriate authorship criteria should not be deliberately excluded.

Any proposed change to the author list after submission should be supported by the agreement of the affected authors and may require editorial approval.

Research Integrity and Data

Authors should maintain appropriate research records and ensure that reported data and results are accurate. The journal may request supporting information when legitimate questions arise concerning the reliability or integrity of published findings.

Authors are encouraged to make research data, source code, algorithms, and supporting materials available when doing so is ethically and legally appropriate.

Artificial Intelligence and AI-Assisted Technologies

The use of artificial intelligence in research and scholarly communication must be responsible and transparent. Authors may use AI-assisted technologies where appropriate, but remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of their submissions.

AI systems cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for published research. Where AI has made a material contribution to manuscript preparation, analysis, coding, image generation, or other research activities, appropriate disclosure should be provided.

Human and Animal Research

Research involving human participants, identifiable personal information, or animals must comply with applicable ethical and institutional requirements. Where relevant, manuscripts should identify the responsible ethics committee or institutional review body and provide appropriate approval or consent information.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members should disclose financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could reasonably influence the research or editorial process.

Where a conflict may affect impartiality, the journal may take appropriate measures, including reassignment of editorial responsibility or exclusion from the review process.

Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are expected to manage submissions fairly, objectively, and confidentially. Editorial decisions should be based primarily on scholarly quality, originality, methodological soundness, relevance, and ethical considerations.

Editors should avoid conflicts of interest, protect confidential information, select appropriate reviewers, and respond appropriately when credible ethical concerns arise.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers should provide independent, constructive, and evidence-based assessments. They must maintain confidentiality, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and decline assignments when they cannot provide an impartial review.

Reviewers should identify substantive methodological, ethical, or originality concerns where reasonably possible and should not use unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal or professional advantage.

Publisher Responsibilities

Flux Academic supports the editorial independence of IJCI and does not determine manuscript acceptance on the basis of commercial, financial, or institutional interests. The publisher provides publishing, production, hosting, preservation, and dissemination infrastructure while editorial decisions remain the responsibility of the journal's editorial leadership.

Publication Misconduct

The journal may investigate credible concerns involving publication misconduct, including:

  • Plagiarism or inappropriate text reuse
  • Fabrication or falsification of data
  • Manipulation of images or research results
  • Duplicate or redundant publication
  • Improper authorship practices
  • Citation or peer-review manipulation
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • Other serious breaches of research or publication integrity

Depending on the circumstances, the journal may request explanations or supporting documentation, consult appropriate experts, or communicate with relevant institutions when necessary.

Corrections and Retractions

When a published article contains a significant error or raises a substantiated ethical or integrity concern, IJCI may correct or otherwise amend the published record.

Possible actions include:

  • Correction or amendment
  • Expression of Concern
  • Retraction
  • Removal of an article where legally or technically necessary

Corrections and retraction notices will be appropriately connected to the original publication so that the status of the scholarly record remains clear.

Appeals and Complaints

Authors may submit a reasoned appeal concerning an editorial decision when there are substantive grounds for reconsideration. Appeals should clearly identify the basis of the request and provide relevant supporting information.

Complaints concerning editorial conduct, peer review, publication ethics, or journal procedures will be considered confidentially and handled as impartially as reasonably possible.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, and other unpublished information obtained during the publication process must be treated as confidential. Such information must not be disclosed or used for personal advantage without appropriate authorization.

Preservation of the Scholarly Record

IJCI is committed to maintaining an accurate and reliable scholarly record. Where credible evidence demonstrates that published information requires correction or further clarification, the journal will take appropriate action to preserve the integrity and transparency of the publication record.

These standards may be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect developments in research integrity, computational intelligence, scholarly communication, and responsible publishing. Updated policies will be made available through the journal website.
